That was incredibly stressful. They have a chance to reset now ahead of the games in Queens.

How have the big relievers who have delivered at an all star level all season suddenly started performing so badly all together at the same time? I would have bet my life that Hoffman Strahm and Kerk could get it done is it a match up thing? Is it just random small sample stuff?

It's definitely, mostly, random small sample stuff. Any reliever can have a bad game or two or a bad week. It's all in the timing. And tonight the Phillies came for Diaz (which they also have before).

I didn't get to watch yesterday but I had the impression Strahm and Hoffman were throwing strikes and ahead in counts, but location/command was off at crunch time.

I vote for winning the series in New York, but yes, it's good to have the trip home in pocket.

As bad as Casty was in the (almost) first half of the season he has been our “game winning” hitter all year (along with Turner). What is that, 5?

He still end up less that 1 WAR on the season because of his horrendous defense (2.0 oWAR, -1.7 dWAR), but game winning hits are not in that equation.

Got caught up in the excitement and watching the after show on FS1.

Phillies and Mets are definitely in a battle to move on. I like that the offense showed up in 3 of the final 4 innings. Cannot say enough about the clutch hitting from Castellanos and also from Harper and Stott. Turner also had a pair of hits but his two-out walk in the ninth was his biggest contribution. I'm sure Met fans are upset with the back-to-back, two-out walks that set up the walk-off win.

The Phillies need to have a great start from Nola on Tuesday and they need for some solid innings from the bullpen.

Ill be at game 4 so winning it there would be pretty cool. But I wouldn't be upset if I got to watch game 5 in a bar in Philly (or if I could stomach paying the going price and getting into CBP).

We were saved from an odd move by Thomson. With Harper hitting Turner refused to go to 2nd base. They were not even holding him on. I don’t get it, it wasn’t to keep the hole open because they weren’t holding him on anyway.

If Harper had singled it could have cost us the game.

For those not watching Harper torched a pitch that should have won the game, it was fair the whole way until the last couple feet before it banged off the bottom of the fence. He absolutely crushed it.

I'm just glad we got at least one good game out of this postseason. I don't enjoy being the favorite in the playoffs, Phils seem to do better in the underdog role.

I think if Turner stole the bag, they would have walked Harper. It all worked out in the end. Glad to see some life in the offense, but the bullpen needs to get back to form. Great win, I had multiple heart attacks! Went out for celebratory ice cream

Yes, they would have for sure. The thing is we would be better off. No matter how good a hitter is, you are better off with a guy on 1st and 2nd then just a guy on first.

But that is the answer of why they didn’t do it, but we should have forced them to.

Probably a good decision, as I imagine your emotions would have been boiling over during parts of tonight’s improbable 7-6 victory. Sometimes we need a reset to remember that it’s not a life or death situation as to whether the Phillies win or lose. I hope the break today did you good, my friend.
