Well I would have considered burning Pache on defense if they'd actually PH Cave. But not surprised Rob stayed the course. And no real reason to think Pache would look any better than Rojas at the plate.

They should have left Ranger in - just walk Carroll.

Cave's virtually an automatic out against a LHP too. Rojas isn't there to hit. Pull him and they probably lose a one-run game on a defensive play later. And he could have lucked into one just as easily as anyone else. We've seen him do it.

Well, it's still a close game. So strange that Thomson couldn't get Ranger out of his other starts fast enough and hung in for this one. But also shows you how hamstrung he feels by not trusting Soto (even with a good match-up), Kerkering or Kimbrel. He's got the pitchers he wants for the rest of the game (including Wheeler), hopefully they do their job and the bats do theirs.
