I think the gap between the Phillies and Nola isn't money, but years. I dont want to go into a hot(cold) stove discussion here. But its hard to argue against a 7 or 8 year deal.
3 Ks in a row for Kelly.
Rojas is batting average can't get much lower than this.
Johan Rojas
Foul (82.7 mph curveball)Foul (91.5 mph cutter)Ball (86.6 mph slider)Swinging strike (blocked) (89.8 mph changeup)
Johan Rojas strikes out swinging.
Arizona Diamondbacks
Philadelphia Phillies
And now 4 in a row.
I canāt believe their game two starter who is dialed in right now was told by his manager in recent history that he was statistically the worst pitcher in baseball. What a turn around.
Definitely nervous about Nola staying out but I guess they should be nervous about Kelly facing our guys a third time too.
Offense sputtering, I guess it will be up to the pitchers to win this one
Not sure Nola should head out there, Guess Id give him a real short leash at this point and then go to the pen. Offense needs to get Kelly out the game.
Easy decision for me to send Nola back to start the 6th.
Would have had to be Strahm or Alvarado to face Carroll (since you don't want Soto to face three guys).
Corbin Carroll
Ball (84.7 mph changeup)Ball (91.2 mph four-seam fastball)In play, out(s) (91.5 mph sinker)
Corbin Carroll grounds out, shortstop Trea Turner to first baseman Bryce Harper.
Ketel Marte
Ball (85.7 mph changeup)In play, no out (92.2 mph sinker)
Ketel Marte doubles (2) on a sharp line drive to right fielder Nick Castellanos.
Problem now of course is that no one was throwing already (I assume).
Tommy Pham
Swinging strike (85.6 mph changeup)Called strike (90.8 mph sinker)Foul (80.5 mph knuckle curve)In play, out(s) (79.2 mph knuckle curve)
Tommy Pham grounds out, third baseman Alec Bohm to first baseman Bryce Harper.
Bohm continues to flash serious leather. I do not want to hear again how his defense is mediocre. He has grown leaps and bounds and deserves kudos
Bohm saved a big problem there.
Christian Walker
Swinging strike (92.5 mph four-seam fastball)Called strike (79.7 mph knuckle curve)Ball (92.1 mph four-seam fastball)Foul (92.9 mph four-seam fastball)Foul (92.9 mph four-seam fastball)Swinging strike (80.1 mph knuckle curve)
Christian Walker strikes out swinging.
Leaving Nola in, great managing
Hes been fantastic. Send him back out to start the 7th. But be ready to pull him if he gets into trouble.
