Reading back over last night I don't think you can overstate how big Stott's AB was. And while you can't blame Lovullo for going to his lefty reliever - sometimes it just doesn't work out - had he stuck with Kelly there for just one more out the inning might have ended. Or maybe Stott just gets a walk or single and then he could have gone to a RHP to face Realmuto.

I thought it was risky going with the left-handed reliever for Stott given that he has minimal platoon splits. If Lovullo did not make the switch for Harper he should have stuck with Kelly. Stott is just not good enough to have warranted the move in the 3-batter rule era.

Lovullo also sounded like it was his call to go conservative on the running game. Unless Carroll is hurting that seems a mistake at least when Nola was pitching.
