well, I have to admit, I did not know what was going to happen. I was completely wrong and so very happy. I'm with VFK. no more doubting. that took a heck of comeback from that game the other night. Awesome. Take it all the way. Crowd was tremendous.

I know the game thread is always a bit kneejerk but I'm consistently surprised how many people (not just here) don't put more stock in platoon match-ups. Bohm is still very much a below-average hitter against any RHP (85 vs. 138 tOPS+), and so is Schwarbs against LHPs (86 vs. 107 tOPS+). But they have no alternatives to either, and it's gotten them this far.

There was a feeling. In the bullpen, the Phillies relievers play a game. Every pitcher can throw their hat down once a game to call a homer. Hoffman tossed his hat in the first inning when Kyle Schwarber led off. Nope. Then, in the third, Harper stepped to the plate.

“There were three hats on the ground,” Hoffman said, “waiting for that homer.”

Orion Kerkering, Cristopher Sánchez and Gregory Soto had tossed theirs. Now, Hoffman owes them.

Bryce Harper’s Phillies teammates felt before Game 3 that he ‘was going to do...

It almost turned out to be true. In the bottom of the third inning, Wilson was sitting next to outfielder Jake Cave in the dugout, and placed his cap on the top rail to call a home run for Trea Turner. Turner worked a seven-pitch at-bat and hit a single with two outs to bring Harper to the plate with runners on first and third.

Wilson reached out to grab his cap and Cave immediately stopped him.

“Why the hell would you take that off,” he said. “Leave it up there for Harper.”

Wilson did, and sure enough, Harper hit a two-run home run in the next at-bat.
