The problem is we don’t need a WR to develop because of Roster space.

DJax, Jeffries, Ward and (unfortunately) Orcega-Whiteside are locks barring a trade. Ward has earned a spot, I doubt we can hide him on the PS anymore, and he is a quality backup. So we need another receiver that will contribute, maybe even start since I question the durability of the first 2.

I think we need a 4-5 year veteran for our last WR spot. It is safer have to use cap space here given how much the first 2 are using, but I don’t think we can take the (provable) risk of repeating this year.

I would go CB in rounds 1 and 2 (or maybe LB). Edge would help, frankly OL would also be a good choice as our OL is getting very old (even with Dillard replacing Peters).

I just don't think you can go into next season with a WR corp of Jeffrey, DJax, Ward, and JJAW. None of them are legit #1 WR talents and the first two are older and coming off of injuries. They don't need a WR to develop, they need a WR to be able to play and impact immediately.

That was kinda my point Lawman, but apparently I didn’t make it. I don’t think we can just add a rookie, we need to add a #1 type. These would be reasonably good #2-5 WR. I would love to see them unload one of them somehow (Jeffries or DJax), but they really can’t just cut them as the cap hit would be huge.

I think that teams can add significant WR help in the draft, although the current Eagles' management have given me zero confidence that they can. So, I can agree to the wisdom of drafting positions where we do a better job evaluating young talent. Unfortunately, that excludes CB and LB, although in fairness we haven't devoted the draft resources to LB. We seem to do best drafting linemen, TE, and RBs.

Have the Eagles truly drafted that poorly, especially given position/# of picks? '18 and '17 don't look that bad to me (Sidney Jones was always a gamble but everyone in the world thought he was first-round talent if healthy). Obviously JJ A-W is disappointing but Sanders has exceeded expectations. Go back further and '14 and '15 aren't pretty but '12 and '13 were great. A lot of front office turnover in that time of course.

I don't think the hierarchy is too mysterious: obviously it starts with Howie, and Douglas was replaced by his longtime assistant (including with the Ravens). Their college scouting guy has been with the team forever (most recently returning in 2016).

You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to evaluate a WR though. Skills and offensive fit both seem pretty simple to project even though college is so different.
