Eagles 2019-2020 Season

I don't care about the draft pick or winning a playoff game. I just want to knock the freakin' Cowboys out of the playoffs. That's a good season, regardless of what follows!

I think Howie is a cap genius. But, he's not shown he can evaluate talent in the draft, and even his trades and FA signings have been so/so.They need to bring in a real talent evaluator - someone who has had success in identifying talent in the draft and on the FA market.

I don't know whether Pederson hasn't been great with his offensive play calling b/c he knows the talent isn't there, or because in 2017 it was really Frank Reich who was the genius behind Pederson. But, I've seen nothing from Mike Groh that suggests he should be brought back. I think the team needs a new OC.

The Cowboys fans I know will be happier if they miss the playoffs and fire Garrett so really I just want what's worst for them.

Also, "it's a good season if you ruin it for the Cowboys" is basically a relic of this team's long history of having nothing else. That hasn't been the case for a long time but especially not since we won a Super Bowl. I was at the game in 2013 when we knocked them out on the last night of the season and that was a delight. But we were 10-6 and it was also our only division title and playoff appearance over a six-year span. Winning the East at 8-8 won't feel quite the same.

Certainly the Cowboys game is, for all intents and purposes, a playoff (or play-in).

This is so true.
I don't care about spoiling the Cowboys' season; that season will end soon enough.
What I want to see is a quick Eagles return to being a good team. This year was a clear step down from last year.
I want the better draft choice.
I want TPTB to be forced to face the ineptitude of certain members of the front office and coaching staff; of the advanced age of the roster; of the general lack of speed; of the failure to continue Wentz's development.
That Pederson could call Monday the best game of Wentz's career is pathetic. He definitely had a plus second half and over-time, but his first half was awful.
Whether it's Pederson, Groh, or Wentz (and to be honest it's a problem which extends to the D), the Eagles repeated inability to get off to a good first half start in games, the inability to play with any degree of zest against bad teams is awful.

I want to see substantial changes for next season.

I want the higher draft pick, because I saw how the entire offense collapsed when we lost Jackson and I want them to have the best chance to be able to draft a reliable, burner WR who can stretch the field and give the rest of the O a chance to work.

I want a better 2nd round draft position.

For the rest of this season:
I want to see Dillard starting at LT
I want to see the aggressive DB play I saw at the end of Monday's game and not the overly loose coverage of the 1st half.
I want to let the youngsters play more, including bringing a couple WR up from the practice squad.

I so disagree with the Dallas comments. To me, beating Dallas in week 16 will almost be as enjoyable as the super bowl. I apologize for feeling that way, but, honestly, i am so looking forward to that game if it's meaningful. Wentz throwing for 350 yds and 4 TDs, defense picking Dak, whatever... I don't need a super-bowl win to enjoy the season...

Well, you're in a lot better position than I am. I am going to have to wait a lot longer for a chance to get what I want. You may well get your wish against Dallas, they're as pathetic as we have been.

Yeah to me right now it's like watching the Marlins play the Tigers. The drama is finding out which team isn't completely spiraling out of control. Right now we've won more recently. I believe we're also the only winning team they've beaten (because we were at the time).

The simple fact is we have had 2 seasons now of some really strange bad luck. Our WR and CB have been decimated 2 years in a row, and in today's game those are the positions that you most need. Last year it was more CB, this year it is more the WR (Greg Ward was our #1.... think about that).

I can't really evaluate Wentz if he is throwing to guys that shouldnt be in the league (sorry Greg, love watching the effort, but he isnt a #1 WR, or even a #4).

Pederson's play calling is in the same boat. How do you call plays when the other team is just stacking the line and daring you to throw the ball deep. Our last 50+ completion went to DJax in week 1. No one is afraid of this team deep, we just a) dont have the guys b)are not even trying

Certainly there is a problem with recent draft picks, but once again it is hard to evaluate anything on the offense on this team when we are so handicapped. Is Goeddert a good or great TE? Who knows when they can guard him so close without fear. Is Dillard a good player? Hard to evaluate rookie OL, they need a year or two.

This was a weird year. Quietly the team actually gave up a while ago by releasing players like Fort and Sendajo, not because they were not playing well, but because keeping them cost us picks and there was no reason to lose the pick to hold on to them.

I am not looking forward to this offseason, we just have so many holes and I doubt they can all be filled. One could argue that Orcega-Whiteside is the only WR to keep, we need at least 4 and 2 should be starters. DJax might come back, we might be stuck with Jeffries, but honestly we can't really count on either to even take the field.

They really might need to substantially rework some of the DL contracts. FCox is not anywhere near the player we are paying him to be. Curry is probably gone again I assume (shame, great guy who really just wants to play for the Eagles and win, I think he would do it for $1). Losing Malik Jackson really screwed things up early.

Sometimes it’s hard to know whether I love the Eagles more than I hate the Cowboys. My Cowboy hate goes back to my teenage years when they twice beat my 49ers in the NFC finals during the John Brody years.

I am ashamed to admit that one of my favorite games ever was the Thanksgiving bodybags game wt Budd Ryan.

If you can type the words "my 49ers" than you definitely hate the Cowboys more than you love the Eagles

I actually dislike the Redskins more. They are the pretenders in our division, year in and year out they are supposed to be contenders and they always, always, always are bad. The Cowboys are, reluctantly said, a very well run franchise, one of the best in sports. The Giants are probably going to get better. The Redskins last had 2 good seasons when Russ Grimm was playing.

For year the Redskins spent the most, signed the #1FA, drove up the price on coaches and managed to lose.

They are the team I love to see lose

(PS, it is coincidence we play them this week, honestly I won’t change my mind each of the next two Monday’s. Really)

I hated the team in DC more when they were good. But they and NY should be our bigger rivals. The division has always been stupid in that sense (just like it still stinks we now have Atlanta instead of Pittsburgh in baseball).

I can definitely enjoy seeing the team in DC and their owner lose over and over again.

My three least favorite teams are the NFC East opponents. I particularly disliked the Giants when I first moved to Boston. They showed the Giants on TV every single week, and I never saw the Eagles unless they were playing the Giants.

Well, we’re talking my 49ers in the sixties and seventies. I’ve been an Eagles fan since 1983.

Eagles put Jeffery on IR and recall WR Robert Davis from the practice squad. Jeffery has a Lisfranc injury and is probably out for a full year. Safe to say that he has probably played his last Eagles game. Only 1 million of his 2020 salary is guaranteed.

Have to wonder at this point, the Eagles are going to need at least 3 new wide receivers next year, if not 4. They are going to have to address the position in the draft and through free agency.

I wonder how many WR routes Miles Sanders can learnin 2 practices. Maybe Rasul Douglas can learn WR, he sure doesn’t seem to understand CB.

Maybe split out Fletcher Cox and see if any CB/S have any interest in trying to tackle him. I wonder if Embiid can catch a football

The Eagles get to play Dallas, almost for the NFC East title, next week with today's win. We barely slip by an awful Redskins team, while Dallas looked very good against a Rams, making this their first win this year against a winning team not named Eagles. We have to be big underdogs against Dallas. The Schwartz defense has looked very iffy 3 weeks in a row against poor offensive teams. Wentz threw better, but the fumbling was worse. Good to see a nice day from Ward and Sanders. Boston Scott had his moments, including one of the few kickoff returns of the year when we did 5 yards better than just letting the ball go into the endzone.

Dallas opens at -2.5. Lots of bettors in Philly trying to get money on the Cowboys at that spread before it goes up to 4-ish by game time.

Hope we're better at home. Should be a loud crowd (Dallas game) and we might get some random walking wounded guys (Barnett? Howard? Lane?) back.

They've been pretty good at home all year. Much worse on the road.
