I had no idea Lester Piggot was an actual person. Now I have no idea what that James song was about.

One of my favorite things about this list is unexpected glimpses into the diversity of people's musical taste (especially when you don't always know how old people are either. Having fans from overseas also adds a lot to that!

Big loss, I've always been a big fan of The Band and Hawkins not only recruited Helm into his band at age 18, but found Robertson, Danko, Manuel and Hudson to round out the group. Find some of The Hawks, as they were known with Hawkins, music if you can. It is great.

Despite him playing for the Cowboys I always thought he was a good (and likely underrated) player. So well balanced, shifty, probably played faster than he timed, and fearless.

Those of us who are a bit older and who followed the Flyers in their earliest years certainly remember Jean-Guy Gendron. He was a solid winger who was on the team prior to the glory years. As I recall, his best time was when he was part of the “French Line” with Andre Lacroix and Simon Nolet. He died June 30, age 87.
