He only barely worked across lines. However, he had a developmentally disabled child or grandchild. He was a supporter of programs for developmentally disabled and sponsored the act which created a program for planning and advocacy in every state. I always saw him as a prime example that people can be empathetic when they walk in someone else’s shoes.

Yes that struck me as a hilarious framing but compared to the last 20 years, probably correct. But if you asked me what he was best known for my first two answers would be his assocation with big pharma/nutritional supplements and his music (and also being the subject of a Frank Zappa song).

Sad, he was a solid pitcher for the Phillies for a time. RIP

Very respectable 120 ERA+ with the Phillies, I had forgotten he had some of the same qualities as Mitch Williams in his stats, not many hits allowed, walked a lot of guys (about 5 BB/9), seemed to have some odd bad luck with wins and losses (4-10 one year with a 3.55 ERA, he started 18 games that year...1994).

The brain cancer cluster continues.

This would be a class action lawsuit if not for the statutes of limitation going back to McGraw, Vuke, Daulton. I don't think it was the Astroturf, because other teams used it and don't have the recurring brain cancer cases. It's something in the Vet, be it a chemical used or mold or something else. I can't think of any Eagles who had brain cancer, so it might be something only baseball related. Just too much coincidence.

Are there even statutes of limitations on class action/civil suits of this nature? Still, hard to prove - or, I'm afraid, win - in America 2021.

Meanwhile there's the Flyers lawsuit.

The baseball vs. football thing doesn't seem that hard to figure actually - 81 home games vs. 8 home games, plus hours and hours of non-game time at the ballpark on the days of those games vs. almost none for the football team (nor practices).
