Strictly speaking - and even though I failed to follow this myself - I thought the other thread was solely informational - this is who the Phillies took - and all discussion, Phillies or not, was for this thread.

I guess I would argue that this one is for any draft-related discussion, whether Phils or not; the other one will have the “announcements” and any discussion about the picks.

If the Draft Picks thread were to be limited to just the pure info things (announcements of picks, summaries or links to scouting on the picks, etc.), realistically, it would have to be heavily moderated - you all don’t generally conform particularly well to distinctions like that!

I probably moved the Fisher stuff prematurely…but I really didn’t anticipate that the Phils would go there! Not complaining; it’s worth it!

Pirates just drafted another Jared Jones, a 1B in the 9th round, after drafting Jared Jones, a pitcher in the 2nd round, in 2020. Just thought it to be interesting as I follow the Pirates for various reasons.

I guess the Phillies could select a backup plan at 11 that they don't intend to sign if they get Fisher, though that would not make sense if they know and can meet Fisher's number.

I think I am expecting the best $150K player they can get at the pick rather than somebody who will need more money. Actually surprised that Spencer is still around as a college senior. He would have made sense as an underslot guy to many teams the past few rounds. If they still like him I imagine he'll be in the mix for the next couple of picks.

My guess is a backup for Fisher will get picked in the 16th round or later, they will get guys they like for $150k first.

I know he had shoulder surgery in May, did you read how bad it was? I didn't see anything specific about what it was.
