And if the ump said something, that could have been a warning but it also could have been the ump giving him a hard time (like, "enjoy that fine from the league office").

Easy to forget what it's like to just be a normal very good team. Colorado should really win every single opening game at home (especially if the other team just flew in the night before), and yet they mostly embarrass themselves year after year.

Giants series might be tough even after how the series here went. They've turned it around some.

Harper was very demonstrative with his frustration during the AB and slammed his helmet to the ground after striking out

But he did not get thrown out after that helmet slam, so, I think the ump was a bit too cantankerous.

Hope I'm wrong as I don't like to see athletes get hurt, even Braves players, but that looks like an Achilles injury to me.

Trea Turner (hamstring) showed up to the park today feeling a little soreness and stiffness after increasing his running intensity yesterday, Rob Thomson said. Phillies will pull back a bit with him and continue to be careful.

Acuña says the discomfort is more like he felt in 2018. He wouldn’t be surprised if he misses a month.

Bad season injury-wise for Atlanta, losing Acuña and Strider. Arguably their best pitcher and their best position player.

They certainly overcame similar challenges in 2021 (losing both Acuña and Soroka, and then Charlie Morton in the World Series), while shorter-term injuries to Strider and Morton (again) have hurt them in other Octobers.

As injured as the 2022 and 2023 Phillies were in various ways, we've been pretty lucky. And, while having an older team certainly increases your chances, there's no immunity for young players either.

I was just saying in the game thread that rotation depth could be an issue of Walker flames out (and even more so if Turnbull does, or there's an injury). But there's this at least.

Michael Mercado is ready for any role should the Phillies need pitching help...

The Phillies have played a lot of games due to the London games and they are starting to look tired. Yesterday was a day game in a new city after a day game.

Not really Phillies related, but has anyone seen some of the plays coming out of high school baseball lately? I keep getting things popping up on my feeds.

A centerfielder tags a runner out at home? A left fielder robs a home run preserving a no hitter and making the final out to win the team a section title? Exciting stuff.

Ruiz has not taken anybody's spot. He is pitching well enough now to give himself a spot. Who knows in a couple of months?

Covey pitched well enough (and showed enough stuff/stamina) that the Phillies have wanted to keep him for 2 years now. I assume his injury is real, but that also does not mean that he is out of their plans. They are taking a deliberate path with his back injury in part because he is not really needed now. I would guess there is still a 50-50 chance he appears with the Phillies at some point this year.
