They'll consider it if they can, who knows if they can. I would think keeping the pick is still their first choice, or maybe trading down is. But if they're not going to use the pick it can't just be to add more to the George/Embiid core (which would also be hard to do cap-wise).

Morey has a history of being able to do this, even if not very well. He moved Horford, he moved Ben, he moved Harden. There were teams that wanted George last year and his one bad season won't change that even with the obvious risks. Even when he was playing better he was often hurt.

I miss the old days when we just came up with our own ridiculous trade proposals. We're just as credible as most of the people who post on those sites (real or fake). The SI site remains especially depressing as they still employ real journalists and put out a good magazine. Say what you will about the Athletic but they don't do that and I don't see chumbox ads for sexy pictures of Lilly from AT&T.

That said, everybody joked about the Mavs trading Flagg the minute they won the lottery, and while they won't, they could still be that dumb.

This was posted in the flyers thread but wanted to follow up in this thread, @phillychuck what are your thoughts on the Okafor pick? At the time i thought he was best player available by a lot and would have been a good trade option to get the gaurd they needed. I thought it was the best pick available but interested in your view since you are saying it was forced on hinkie

I also think hinkie did a great job and believe the team would have made it past the second round if his war chest wasn’t dumped out by colangelo

Okafor was a very risky pick. Scouty guys I respected thought his game and athleticism would not translate to the pros (turns out they were right, but that wasn’t certain at the time). And he was really duplicative of the talent on hand. In hindsight picking Booker after trading down would have been genius; I think I would have taken Porzingis and played chicken with his agent. I really liked the idea of Porzingis at the time--really tall guy who could shoot and block shots; what’s not to like?
