My issue with Morey and the 76ers is their overly optimistic obstinance combined with ignoring glaring issues that hamstring our team.
Morey always believes that x vet will be healthy and play really well here regardless of the evidence that would smack any other GM in the face and make them make a different choice or at least second guess the reality of their plan.
George is only the latest example - signing him to that deal at age 34 with his injury history was outrageously bad. It was made worse because of their willful avoidance of dealing with Embiid's issues (just like they did with Simmons) and instead spinning everything to the positive and hoping everything works out as if by magic.
Morey needs to be fired and a GM with a long term vision and toughness brought in that can stand up to ownership and the other entrenched powers with knives out for anyone who wants to promote intelligent change and be the leader who stops passing the buck and starts building something worth supporting.
They need to deal with Embiid first and IMO it is like PC said, be willing to change so the team can win or trade him for what value you can get. We've seen this movie for so many years now; he and it are not going to change if they keep the same approach. Naturally, it would have been better to handle it before extending his contract, but that is just more evidence this organization has poor leadership and cannot manage to hold anyone accountable.
Then you need to trade George for whatever we can get and build around Maxey/McCain+ like PC said.
Continuing to kicking the can down the road under the false mantra of "next season will be much better" needs to end and reality faced head on. Do what is necessary finally so we fans can return to supporting something we respect and is worth respecting. The current product is not it, not even close.
