I do have to say, it does look like the WBC is finally beginning to come into its own after years of trying to get it going. Superstar players--although not really superstar pitchers--are taking part and the games have been real good and, more importantly, they've drawn eyeballs. Plus, the players seem to really care about it. Much is being made of the Diaz injury but it happened during a postgame celebration and is really no different than what happened to Kendrys Morales a few years back (badly broke his leg celebrating a walkoff home run, missed the next 1 2/3 seasons, was never quite the same after that). I hope it continues to grow...and it is able to acquire the Baseball World Cup moniker.
