Yeah I am frankly more concerned that this injury prolongs Harrison's time with the Phillies rather than hastens his demise. But he's still probably gone if they trade for a righty bat.
He never made much sense to me role-wise, they had plenty of other IFs and there was no reason to think he'd be an adequate DH (back when Harper was hurt and Hall was theoretically playing). But it's not that big a mystery otherwise, the front office and the manager believe in him as a clubhouse guy, same as it ever was in MLB and for the Phillies particularly.
It's also hard to be a bench player. Very few players really have that skill. Maybe if he had twice as many ABs he'd be at least at his 2022 levels, but I wouldn't have wanted to find out (and with two other RHB 3B and a 2B who should rarely sit, also not possible).
Even if they did call up Kingery and he finished the year in the majors he wouldn't get many more ABs to show much, unless there were injuries.
I think it's all moot, they are going to get an OF and it will probably be a RHB. All the beat writers are already predicting it and Bryce has also done his Bryce thing of quietly signaling that the clubhouse expects some additions.
