I had to listen to WIP today (post-game, was in the car) and honestly I don't really even get the obsession with Turner, both there and here. Phillies are winning, it's a team game, they don't have a better option (on a regular basis), end of story. Does it suck he's playing like a slightly above-average player instead of a good player while being paid like an All-Star? Yes. But that - and especially the $ part - has no bearing on the team's performance and this season anymore. If he's a replacement level SS the rest of the way that's what they have but the best case is he comes around at some point.
They wouldn't even give Matt Vierling a few extra starts in RF last year when Castellanos was so bad (and, like Sosa, Vierling wasn't actually that much better in the long run anyway).
If Turner turns things around both his bat and his fielding will probably come back. If his bat doesn't come back he's certainly not moving to the OF. A few starts for Sosa or Castro is no big deal but that's about all that can be done.
I would love to see Scott Kingery just for the part where it's a good story but that seems only slightly less likely than seeing Nick Maton or Dalton Guthrie at this point... and with similar major league performance.
I guess some of these ideas are good if the point is to make Trea look better.
