A little Yhoswar Garcia BP. I do think he has untapped power potential (10-15 HRs, lots of doubles and triples) compared to someone like Tocci or Muzziotti. But one also might think that is a mighty high launch angle for the fastest player on the field who might weigh 160 on a good day.

He has a very high-effort swing with an uppercut. My preference would be to work on making him stronger rather than changing his power approach--he would be able to reduce the full-body twist in his swing and rely on his strength. JMHO, Phils will obviously have to choose among many options for his development.

While the big club does not debut until Friday, minor league games start Thursday.

In another odd twist Lehigh Valley also starts their season before the Phillies on April 5th. AAA plays a longer schedule than the other levels so starts 3 days earlier with all 4 clubs in action on 4/8.

Glad to see that Moss cleared waivers and was retained in the organization.

Adonis Medina was claimed by the Pirates. He was DFA'd December 1st but was in limbo during the lockout. I had hoped the Phillies would be able to retain him in the minors but it was not to be.

This may have been posted elsewhere, but just in case ....

I don't know where else to put this, but MiLB is bringing back the old nomenclature (International League. Eastern League, etc.).

I never stopped calling my league the "Carolina League" - lol. The whole idea that they never thought about the name until all the reorganizing was done was entirely stupid. Not sure what they had to do to get the rights to those names, but it just did not seem right. I refused to by anything that indicated "Low A Affiliate". Happy it is back - still hate the six game series with Mondays off. Make baseball road trips unproductive as we liked to hit teams on the road and see one team leave and another come into a town. Anyway - I digress in this thread. To get back on track - I wish I as watching Phils minor league ball right now

hahahaha that was the one thing that didn't occur to me!

I think the name thing was merely because the old leagues didn't just roll over and let MLB have them right away. Doubt they cashed in either, but they got something.

It's confusing that some teams which were in the South Atlantic League are now in the (indy) Atlantic League.

I still have not figured it out or what affiliate belongs to who or what league they are in. My brain is too old for change. All the changes have made it very difficult for me to see the Phillies minors so that "clucks"
