This column is supposed to be about reliever usage, but it also highlights how many starters (with some exceptions) are crashing. The Phillies are not the only ones scraping by at #5, and/or seeing their 1s and 2s struggle.

He also quotes a GM as saying teams will carry 15 pitchers next year, because of the the impact of this year and (presumably) a labor dispute-delayed off-season.

There could also be more roster expansion in the new CBA of course.

Tyler Anderson has a 3.38 ERA in his first starts for the Mariners.
He'll be a free agent after the season, but maybe there's a chance he'll return.

This is kinda amazing:

Cleveland is the first team in history to be no-hit three times in a season (and that doesn't include a hitless 7-inning doubleheader game vs Tampa).

Carlos Rodón, Wade Miley & Corbin Burnes/Josh Hader have all no-hit CLE this season. Zach Plesac was on the mound in all 3 games.

Interesting that Cleveland would have 4 games where they did not have a hit but only have 3 no hitters against them. Oh the logic of MLB. Clearly, they do not consider the 7 inning DH games as "real" games.

Phillies will be very happy about this. Career 1.134 OPS against the Phillies in 79 career games. Almost 200 points hight than the next NL team. 25 HRs and 73 RBIs

Miken was bought by Seidler Equity Partners and folded into sporting goods giant Rawlings. Rawlings is partially owned by Major League Baseball, and the Seidler family also owns the San Diego Padres baseball team. The factory closure will save Rawlings at least four million dollars a year.
