It does appear that he--and his family--bonded with Philadelphia and the Phillies organization in a way they didn't with Toronto or the Blue Jays organization. When he passed, his memorial service was at the Phillies, not the Blue Jays, spring training park despite the fact that he actually lived in Dunedin where the Blue Jays' park was. I think that said something about where he and his family felt his baseball "home" was.
