The point is we heard non stop that Simmons worked very hard on his jump and foul shooting this summer and, in the first game, we did not see it. He shot 40% from the foul line and took 2 jumpers.

He didn't need to shoot jumpers. In fact, based on what the defense was giving him any player with his abilities would not have shot jumpers. If you watch NBA basketball, that really isn't something you question. Ben Simmons wasn't forcing himself down the lane but was absolutely imposing his will going down the lane.

Perhaps give it 20 or so games and then bring up the "I thought he was working on his jumper" conversation.

The game against the Celtics required he do exactly what he did against a team that has shown they can push him around.

This could be a really bad shooting team...at some point they will need to make a move for a shooter.

They will win a good amount of talent and size but they are a poor shooting team so far.

Harris should shoot around 37-40%. Richardson, historically, is an average 3pt shooter. Horford is an above average 3-pt shooter. Ennis and Scott are traditionally good 3-pt shooters. They need Thybulle or Milton or Korkmaz to give them some shooting off the bench, or you're right, they will have to go get a guy.

I thought if Joel de-escalted he and Townes might get off without suspensions. I think they have to sit them for a game or two now.

Of course, the fans are loving it but you can't help the team when you are suspended.

Embiid does seem to be from the Brian Dawkins-Chase Utley mold in terms of athletes who bond with Philadelphia and respect its personality, though.

I will be the first to say that I don't think Simmons needs to be a perimeter shooter to be a good player, but what proof do you have (besides it's early in the season) to say that he'll be a good 3P shooter? It's not 4 games... he's 164 games into his career. He has taken 17 3P shots. He's also never shot more than .600 from the FT line. Besides optimism, what do we really expect to be an improvement? One attempt per game at 30% would be a start. He is nowhere near that and that is still pitiful.

He's a good player now. He could be a great player with an outside shot. Aside from some offseason videos in the gym, there is nothing to suggest he'll be a great shooter. He didn't shoot in college.

He has all the talent in the world and probably could be a good outside shooter, but there is simply nothing to suggest that he is or will be.

I don't care if he ever shoots a three, but he needs to get to at least 70% from the charity stripe so that he is not a late game liability.
