it's only been 2 starts and anything can happen (injury, teams catching on to him) but i think the phils are really going to miss what Sixto could have given them in pitching. He looks pretty good. even though there have not been too many, Latin, phils that have made the majors, i think you have to give credit to the scout (maybe Sal) who found him. He'll be a really young free agent. i'm sure the marlins will buy him out of that, but i'f available start saving your money JM.

He was also high-risk, too. Not a particular good body, didn't like to do conditioning, and throws nearly 100 mph. And very young. High risk, but possible high reward if he stays healthy and adjusts to the big leagues.

Selfishly I hope the Braves falter, but I wish we still had games against them, both for competitive reasons and to possibly see Hamels. I guess we could still maybe see them in the playoffs.

It makes total sense to me. He is similar to Trump; an arrogant blowhard who never takes any accountability for anything, who craves power and wields it without thought or empathy. They are peas in a pod - a very big pod to fit those two in together.

Braves beat Marlins 29-9 and Brewers beat Tigers 19-0 on this off day for the Phillies.

I could see the Marlins' pitching collapsing over the course of the season. Let's hope this is the beginning. Feel bad for Jordan Yamomoto. How could they let him throw 94 pitches in 2+ innings giving up 13 runs? I imagine they were saving their better pitchers for us, but still.

That must be the largest swing in run differential between consecutive games for the Braves and Marlins (-8 to +20). Adam Duvall raised his OPS over 100 points. Tommy Milone left the game with a seven run lead and didn't get the win because he didn't pitch long enough.

I'm not a big "pitch count" guy, but that seems abusive. I hope, still, that Yamamoto recovers with no lingering bad effects.

We face Sandy Alcantara in game one of the series too, he pitched really well against the Phillies opening day. Sixto probably on Sunday and we aren't likely to face whoever started yesterdays game until the 7th game of the series.

Well, if the Phillies want to be a playoff team, they have to win this series. 4-3 would be OK, but I'm hoping for 5-2 or better coming out of this series with the Marlins. Need Arrieta to be sharp tonight, as Alcantara has been tough against our lineup in the past.

I don't really expect us to win this series. Even most top teams only go .500 on the road, and then you throw in the doubleheaders, which take away the best thing about our team over 7 normal games (i.e. that at least one of Nola/Wheeler, if not both, would come up twice).

Maybe we'll go 4-3, maybe we'll go 3-4. Either way we'll leave Miami in pretty much the same playoff position we are today.

Now, 5-2 would be nice to start a run at the division title, while 2-5 would leave us grasping for 8th.
