I don't think you can be that harsh on an injury. A pitcher could feel something pop, need to go out of the game, and then come back on their next start pretty easily. The 15 day rule is a little harsh IMO. There needs to be some rule, but day to day injuries can be legit.

Isn't there another rule coming next season that will require a pitcher to pitch to two or three batters before he can be removed?

Yes, three batter minimum next year (or end of an inning if fewer).

Fine, a more reasonable penal would be to simply deem the batter to have been walked.

After just watching the atlanta series, thinking about Freddie Freeman. he was Atlanta's second round pick in '07. The phils picked 2 players before him...joe savery and travis d'arnaud. Wow, just wow.

Reds To Acquire Trevor Bauer In 3-Team Deal

Interesting - not sure what to make of this yet. Some good for all but expected a primo piece for Bauer verses 3 moderate pieces.

It is a crazy 3-team trade. Looks like the Indians did OK. Question is why the Reds would really do this? Does it really make them good enough potentially?

Trade includes a lower level player from both Padres and Reds so overall the Indians doing fairly well considering their pitching depth - landed two power corner outfielders, a young controllable pitcher and two lower level flyers. Trammell has room to improve, but that was a lot given to get him. No sure what the Reds are thinking, but I guess they are going to make a push this offseason.

But is their overall club good enough where one would think trading good prospects for a short term, expensive pitcher is a good idea? Their offense just needs to go a long way till it is any good. Bauer will get $20 million in arbitration for next season. I know small clubs have to take chances to compete in narrow windows, but this seems a narrower window than most and they are sacrificing some of their future. Outside of Castillo, it is very possible that guys like Gray and Roark regress or are not even there next year.

I'm going to repeat myself but I think its insane that the Padres gave up a 24 year old major league OF who currently has 27 HRs and an .849 OPS AND 3 other prospects for Taylor Trammell who is currently 21 years old with a sub.700 OPS in AA.

Ehh, I thought the Reds made a good deal. They gave up Puig who is a nutcase, Trammel who has been awful, and an ok pitching prospect. Got a really good pitcher who can possibly help them compete next year and if not they can try to trade him at the deadline.

The trade was announced (though presumably not yet official) during the Reds game, but Puig stayed in the game. And then he go into the middle of a brawl! How could the Red not pull him from the game once the trade was agreed to? What if Puig had gotten hurt?
