Not really true. Look at the situation the Phillies are now in with Gowdy.

Worst case is TJ surgery and his progress is set back a year.
But with De Los Santos and some other pitchers emerging, waiting an extra year wouldn't be the end of the world.
And like SD, it may turn out that Sixto's future is as a closer, not a SP.

Given we have five starters, and the Lehigh rotation by August could be De Los Santos, Kilome, Irvin, Romero and Anderson (not to mention Lively, Eshelman, et al), there was no need to rush the A ball pitchers in any case.

Sixto just has to time it to arrive in 2021 to replace Arrieta!

Sigh, I had visions of Sixto getting here next year. Reading next month, finish the season there, start 2019 there, blow everyone away for a month, two months in LHV, ML debut in July.

They gave him an MRI quickly. That is at least an improvement over the old Phillies Way and makes it more likely they are right that it isn’t serious.

I posted a response to this query previously in the Minor League Games - Wednesday, June 6, 2018 thread. It reads:

Today, Jim Peyton over at phuturephillies.com has indicated that Moniak was injured.

Apparently Mickey Moniak may have injured himself on a swing the night before last. He was held out of last night’s game. This type of event is often an oblique. I saw Kelly Dugan felled by an oblique in 2013 ST. He missed the first 3 weeks of the season. He missed 7 weeks the following year in Reading with the same injury. So, is Moniak does have an oblique, he may be sidelined until late July. However, I’ve heard nothing official yet.

Remember the name Jo (Jordon) Adell, who was drafted by the Angels immediately after Adam Haseley last year.

He was considered more of a high risk, high reward pick than the "safe" Haseley. Great tools, but there was no way to be sure about swing and miss level.

Well...…the Phillies passed, and the Angles took the risk...…….....he's now at High A as a 19 year old a year out of high school, just hit his 14th home run of the year, and has an OPS of .936 after one full year.

Sure would look good in the Phillies system!

He has hit in all 4 places he has been however. And is 3 years younger than Haseley.

Plus Inland Empire is kind of the Lakewood of the Cal league. Most pitcher-friendly park in the league, though of course road games will help the offense.
