Lively looked very good, 91-93, mostly 92-93, something to watch, young pitchers often add a MPH or so once they hit the majors, I think not so much physical maturity but smoothing out their mechanics. His FB is deceptive, the TB hitters were flailing at four seamers at the letters. Slider at 84, curve at 76 look the same except for velocity, so his curve doesn't have a big break. Would like to see him develop a change just to make his FB look faster - change/splitter are harder to pick up than a breaking pitch b/c no spin to identify so they freeze hitters. But he struggled with one last year.
We'll see how Lively develops, but if he can just do for a full season what he did last year, that would be fine.
31 starts, 186 IP between Lehigh and Philly, 170 IP the year before. So he can eat innings.
He only averaged 91.3 last year, so a slight uptick to 92 or so could keep him in the Show.
