2018-19 Sixers Season

Definitely ok with making sure we enter the playoffs healthy, but I hope it's the right call. Team hasn't played together long, and I have concerns over the cohesion entering the playoffs.

Make or break time for Brett, IMO. Can't wait for the playoffs, almost time!

I'm planning on going to the game Vs the Bucks tomorrow. I have been assuming they will put out their first stringers for that game and would be disappointed if they didn't. Especially as I could in theory go down to Camden Yards tomorrow

I don’t know....I find it a little disturbing that we somehow need to have all 4 of our “stars” playing to beat a lottery team but apparently only having 3 of our “stars” playing isn’t sufficient.

Good point but I've heard Camden Yards is worth seeing. Someone else just raised the very good point that Bryce could ring the bell tomorrow and now I'm all in on the Sixers game.

Honestly I really enjoy this Sixers team but last week's game against the Nets had such a a weird atmosphere and I didn't really enjoy it. Probably cos the sixers almost always had a ten to fifteen point lead.

I think you're making the right call. It's still kind of a big game. And you get to see Gianiss. Camden Yards is cool but it was cooler when every other stadium in MLB was more like the Vet. Now they are all like Camden Yards.

That's interesting. I've been to five of the current thirty. Nats Park seemed incredibly generic. The batters eye was cool but the rest of the stadium felt like it had no unique Washington elements. Seattle is my favourite non Philly park and I've also been to Citi Field and the new Yankee stadium. It's a very small sample size.

It looks like Embiid and Giannis both start. No Butler unfortunately but should be interesting game. Now I wait to see if Bryce rings the bell.

Bryce did indeed ring the bell. Really lifted the atmosphere. Though credit to the former soldier who sang the anthem. Even I was getting emotional and ready to run into war for the flag there .

I didn't see what happened exactly but bledsoe threw a ball at Joel and got two techs and an ejection. Those techs were offset by techs for Mike Scott and JoJo.

In other news Zhaire Smith just made his home debut and hit a 3 almost immediately

This team will get knocked out in the second round of the playoffs. They simply don't play enough defense. I really like brett brown but he may be the wrong coach for this team.

Maybe they get knocked out by the Raptors. They would take the bucks or Celtics in a seven game series though. Tough loss but I enjoyed it way more than the comfortable win over Brooklyn last week. I wish they had another game I could go to before I go home

The Sixers are like a tragic novel where the foreshadowing of the hero's downfall is written early and often throughout the book. I don't see how anyone can point to evidence they can suddenly start playing defense and advance past the 2nd round. Raptors in 5 is where this team is at right now

The roster construction is flawed.

Teams focus on several main things:

-forcing the 76ers into a half court game
-taking JJ away as an offensive option.
-switching offensively onto the 76ers bad defenders to score at will
-take advantage of the 76ers poor decision making, causing turnovers

Combined with limited depth, poor outside shooting, lack of rebounding, lackluster foul shooting and a general attitude of "we'll win it in the 4th quarter" as Simmons stated after the recent loss to Atlanta makes this a team whose ceiling is low.

Brown seems unable to reach the players to give consistent effort and fix these years-old issues. I do not blame him as much as the front office, but he likely will be the one who pays the price first.

With Butler and Harris both FA after this season, we're looking at yet another roster rebuild, centered around Simmons and Embiid, right?

They will sign one of the two...I'm thinking it will be harris.

It's conceivable that if Butler was max money he could be a sign and trade.

At this point I can't see the sixers being able to keep Butler happy for a full season.

Butler was unhappy in Chicago; then again in Minnesota and now with the Sixers. Taking on Butler is a chancy thing for an organization to do.

I believe the Boston win tonight locks Philly and Boston into 3/4 place (we win the tiebreaker with the Pacers). I don't really care where we finish in this scenario although 4th might be a slightly better second round matchup if we get there. Opposite bracket from Boston is good.
