Nothing wrong with that, Jeff05. Don't feel sorry for the man - he was 99. He's now done one more thing that all of us are going to do - and one thing (living to be 99) that most of probably won't get to do!
We shouldn't treat natural death at an advanced age as any kind of personal tragedy - We all get to do that, if we're lucky (and don't die prematurely for whatever reason).
To the extent that there's loss here, it's that Stevens' voice - which was still being heard - is now gone... and that really is about his contributions to public life.
So, we recognize the passing of an honored and valued public servant - but I don't think we (apart from family, of course) need grieve his death; rather, celebrate and be thankful that he gave us so much, for so long.
RIP, Mr. Justice Stevens.
