Have there been any updates on what Spencer Howard's injury is?

No details; however, his father posted on phuturephillies (May 9, 2019 at 3:54 PM) that 'Spencer should be back soon!' Apparently, the Phillies have requested that he not elaborate.

Yesterday I read (somewhere--bad memory moment) both that writers for the minor league sites were told it was not significant, and that someone else mentioned it was a blister (which you can't throw with, but that's a best-case scenario for pitcher injuries).

Salisbury is usually right about these things, and shoulder soreness is very worrisome for a guy that throws as hard as Howard does.

I guess shoulder soreness doesn't preclude having a blister on one of your fingers...

I''m not too upset that Howard is missing some innings...he shouldn't throw more than about 110-120 this season in my opinion. Too soon to push him.

BTW, Dana Parks is one of the player development coordinators for the Phils. Only female on their 11-person staff.

Interesting - so we have conflicting reports from Phillies personnel, as quoted by different reporters. Salisbury cites Josh Bonifay as his source, Phanatical reports hearing Parks say something different.

This is how we should treat any starter that throws in the mid-90s. That is a demanding workload for any starter and is just different than the intensity of workload for guys that sit in the low 90s. We should treat Howard with kid gloves like we treated Sixto. He needs to show he can handle the workload on his body and should work up to that over a period of years.

If there are conflicting reports then it almost certainly is cause for concern. Misinformation is usually followed by eventual bad news.
