The most impressive thiing to me about Irvin was how he hung in there and didn't lose his cool in the 2nd inning, most young pitchers would have imploded, he just went to work and escaped with one run allowed.
One bad pitch to Desmond, a curve that should have been a foot lower, but Irvin is starting to look like he's the real thing, not going to be a #1 starter, but looks like a solid LH SP who can bolster the middle of the rotation. Throws that sinker 88-89 but can get up to 90-91 when he needs to.
What I like is the way he attacks the K-zone, he doesn't nibble and fall behind, Eflin has learned this as well, they pitch quickly and keep their pitch count down.
Neris is a closer, I know they're supposed to be obsolete, but he's 6 for 6 in save situations, rest of the pen is 4 for 7. Think Neris finished out last season going 20 for 20. Until and if SD puts it together, Neris is the man.
