The way Free agency has gone for some of these guys, we are going to see accepting of the one-year deal or extensions before hitting FA, I bet.

Unclaimed. He makes too much money. ($2.5 million) for what he gives you (which includes really poor offense lately). According to MLBTR he can reject the assignment but then he loses the contract, his service time is still too low.

Really he's the one who has to make the decision. He anounces that he plans to exercise his opt-out and then the Phillies either lose him, exercise the option or renegotiate. Regardless, it's some time after the World Series.

I hope he has such a good year that it happens, but I doubt it. Anything less than a Top 10 performance and the open market surely won't look good. And I can't imagine the team wants him under contract from 2020-2022.

Seems like the Mets are still broke to some extent. But also tells you more about how little leverage players feel like they get from free agency. Plus he wanted to stay, of course. But do you think the Mets' GM would have taken this deal if he was still DeGrom's agent?

This is what the Phillies want from Kingery I expect. Hernandez has done it all for the Dodgers. He keeps developing. But because he wasn't their hot prospect (and, let's face it, is Latin) nobody cared that he's been forced to be a utility guy. Apparently he's now the starting 2B but that just means Chris Davis is in the super-utility role now instead.
